Frequently Asked Questions
- Do pavers need to be sealed?
Pavers don’t have to be sealed, but sealer will bring out the natural color in your pavers as well as make it easier to clean. It gives pavers a wet glossy look that will really make your new job stay looking new for a long time.
- Do pavers have to be cemented down?
No we do not cement pavers down. We use ICPI standard interlocking system witch allows the pavers themselves to interlock with each other after compacting sand in between each crack. Then we will have a concrete edge restraint on the side of thick pavers, and thin set the thin pavers down in needed border area’s.
- Do you need concrete under pavers?
If you do not have concrete where you would like pavers, no worries. We use 6” of base (crushed concrete), which is ICPI standard to create our foundation for your new pavers. Then we compact your base using a 10,000 psi compactor to insure that we maintain a sound base for your pavers.
- Do pavers get hot?
Yes and no. Pavers are made with white and grey base Portland cement. If you choose a dark paver that receives direct sun, then they will get warm. But if you go with a lighter color in those sunny area’s you could compare it to most “cool decks”. In shaded area’s you won’t run into this problem.
- How long does the job take?
This question obviously varies per job. But if we have a job that meets our minimum of $1,500 then your job should be complete in one day. Now lets take an average pool deck, the job should take 3 to 4 days to complete. If you have had bad experiences with companies dragging your job out, Outdoor Impressions is not that kind of company. We want to get the job done as neatly and quickly as possible, without leaving out our attention to detail.
- How long will pavers last?
Pavers can take a pretty harsh beating especially in Florida’s heat, but they will typically last 20-30 years after installation.
- How long will sealer last?
Typically your sealer will last 2 years before it needs to be applied again.
- Do we have to take up our old concrete?
Depending on the condition of the existing concrete we would use 1” thin paver overlay on top of the concrete in areas such as walkways and patios. But in the case of a driveway we take out the concrete put crushed concrete down for the new base, and use thick pavers to handle such extreme weight.
- Can pavers go over concrete?
Yes and no. In the instance of a walkway or patio where there is existing concrete we can use a 1” thin paver, but if we are doing a driveway we will take all of the concrete up. Once the concrete is excavated out, we will lay crushed concrete down to compact then begin laying your new pavers.
- How much do pavers cost?
We estimate per job, and every job is unique in its own way. The price typically falls between $4.50-$6.50 per square foot (Standard pavers), which includes all delivery fees, base, sand, labor, etc.
- Do you offer some kind of warranty?
Yes! We offer a 5 year warranty on the work provided alone. For example we like to leave you with some extra pavers in case one ends up getting cracked. Then we will happily go out and replace the paver for no extra fee. The manufacturer offers a 20 year warranty on the pavers themselves.
